Facebook and maturity

You know, being active in Facebook has given me a lot of opportunity to get to know some people I used to ignore back in high school. There are some girls that I didn’t want to be friends with simply because I didn’t like how they looked at me. It turned out that they are actually good persons and are fun to talk to. One even turned out someone I actually want to be friends with. Not merely an acquaintance but someone I can talk to face to face.
I was once a bully in school. I had my own group of friends and were always pitted against others they deemed my competition. On where I don’t know. But I had my fair share of enemies. Good thing it was nothing serious and I didn’t bully someone to death. I am sorry for some of the things I did back then but not all of it. When you are in school, it’s survival of the fittest and if you don’t hold your own against other bullies, you’d be crushed. That’s how I see myself back then.
So now I am friends with some people I never even talked to in high school. One is even a sister of a close friend of mine. She turned out to be as fun as her sister. I didn’t know why I detested her so much and now I want to be friends with her.
I guess when you mature, things change. You get to discard the silliness of your youth. Just like I did mine.
