Passed on for promotion

One of my former staff sent me an email the other day. In it she wrote that she’s been being passed over for promotion twice already and that it’s depressing her. She remembered when I used to be her boss and how I would fight for the rights of the people under me. She feels like her boss is not doing the same thing for her and the rest of their team.
I advised her to improve herself. Dress smartly. Make her presence felt by being more active within the team. Be more sociable. And to learn more. She can get an accredited online degree. I know that she can’t be absent from work so the next best thing for her to do is study online. It will give her the edge she might be in need of to be able to attract the attention of the bosses at work.
I told her that if and when she feels like she’s improved tremendously and still she’s passed on for promotion, then it’s time for her to work for another company who will appreciate her hard work more.
