Month-long vacation and gifts

My cousin who’s working abroad will be going on a month-long vacation starting on December or early January. He asked us what we want as Christmas gifts and my sister and I both said digital cameras. The one we have now is already acting up and we fear a holiday demise for it. So instead of buying a new one, it might be better to get it as a gift, right? 
Knowing my cousin, he will give us what we requested as a long as he can afford it. If not, he’ll compromise and settle for the next best thing. I wonder what second best I want that I can tell him…
