Condescending lecture

Someone called the telecom company I am subscribed to and that person reported that our landline needs to be repaired. A technician came and told us about the call. Of course, I was surprised. I didn’t call. My dad didn’t call the company. No one in the family called. When the technician came, I am using the landline for my laptop, using it for a dial-up connection. My DSL connection is used in the desktop. He said that he couldn’t contact us and the phone just keeps ringing.
Linksys router, that’s what I need. I know that. The technician lectured me on the use of it. I told him repeatedly that I know, but that I have to set aside funds to buy it first. It’s the least of my priorities because I rarely use my laptop and my desktop at the same time. To say that I got irritated with the technician is an understatement. I was totally annoyed by the lecture! And mind you, it was done in a very condescending manner. If not, I would have appreciated it rather than the show of irritation on my part.
