One of the very first things I figured out about life…is that it’s better to be a hopeful person than a cynical, grumpy one, because you have to live in the same world either way, and if you’re hopeful, you have more fun.

A friend told me recently that I am one of the most cynical persons she know. I think I just see life differently. I can be both hopeful and realistic at the same time. I might throw cynic remarks from time to time but I know I am having fun in life.

Fun is important. A healthy dose of cynicism isn’t a bad thing as long as it doesn’t send you off to be terminally pessimistic!

I just love Barbara Kingsolver and completely agree with this quote. I’m still a bit of a cynic sometimes, but still I’d rather enjoy life than to get bogged down in negativity.

Hopeful is fun, but you know perfectly placed cynicism is fun too! As long as you balance them out I say bring out the inner cynic and go with it.
