How did I spend my Valentine's Day?

I spent it with Boyce Avenue!
Boyce Avenue, as I have written in a previous post, came here to Manila for a series of free shows at SM Malls. They started their series of shows at SM Cebu last February 12, SM Mall of Asia on February 13, and at SM North Edsa The Block last February 14. Their last show was a couple of hours ago at SM Megamall.
I went to The Block around 3pm. You wouldn’t believe how many people were already in line to get their Boyce Avenue album which would be the ticket for them to get in the entertainment area. I opted to go have coffee first. As usual. Good thing I was able to get a seat near the stage while having coffee. Here is a shot of Alejandro Manzano, Boyce Avenue’s lead vocals, while rehearsing…

Dreamy…
My heart started thumping the minute he started singing! The man can really make you go into la la land…
People were growing in number. Some know the group, fans from YouTube and MySpace. Some, like the two lolas near me, didn’t even know them from Adam. But they thought he was muy guapito so they stayed around.

The voice of my personal angel
The group started their set around 5:15pm and from there, proceeded to serenade the crowd with song after song, alternating between their original compositions and cover songs like Apologize by One Republic, Umbrella by Rihanna, and their other hit YouTube music videos. I was enjoying each and every song, not saying anything, just smiling to myself… But this song made me scream with the crowd!
Their cover of Coldplay’s Viva La Vida! I really, really love their rendition!

Boyce Avenue, a Florida-based band popular for its strong acoustic roots and melodic rock sound, consists of the three brothers Alejandro (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Fabian (guitar, vocals), and Daniel Manzano (bass, percussion, vocals), and Stephen Hatker (drums, percussion).
Of the four, the crowd loves Daniel the most. And I noticed that Stephen looks so much like Ashton Kutcher! Okay, so I don’t like Ashton but you have to admit he is hot! And Fabian is just so cute! The teeners beside me were screaming his name every few minutes!
They sang so many songs, to the delight of the crowd. They even gave away 4 teddy bears to the crowd. When the set ended and the crowd asked for more, they came out and sang two more songs… Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol and Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis.
I went home with a splitting headache from the scream of the girls around me (and from my own hihi)… But it really made my day!
How did you spend your Valentine’s Day?
