Sunday afternoon coffee talks

Over a cup of coffee today, my friend and I talked about our lives. She was telling me about this guy she met over a year ago. He’s someone she’s comfortable being with. The friendship is starting to blossom into something else on her part. She is falling in love. But she’s hesitant to give in, anticipating a heartache.
While she was telling me about the guy, I was also thinking that I can relate to her standpoint. I know exactly how she feels. I admire women who easily gives in to love, being positive about its outcome. Like my friend, I am also hesitant to fall in love, or even move further than friendship. The fear of feeling that broken heart is something that you don’t easily forget. It is the same with me, with my friend.
I am not sure if you can relate to this. But there is a basis for that saying, once bitten, twice shy.
