One set of songs

I am currently listening to a local radio station. I will tell you something about each song that plays from here on until the break…

One of my favorite Martin Nievera songs is Each Day With You. I just love that sweet song. I remember hearing that song in a dance. Hay. It became our song.

Terminal by Rupert Holmes was a song that my best friend and I kept singing when we were in third year high. We know that song by heart. We just like the melody but in reality, we didn’t know the meaning of the song then. When I stopped and really read the lyrics, I was horrified! It was a song of infidelity. Sigh.

Just goes to show how mimicking a melody does not mean you know what words are going out of your mouth.

You Made Me Stronger by Regine Velasquez has been a flagship song of the brokenhearted in the 90s. Just read the lyrics…

You’ve made me stronger by breaking my heart.
You ended my life and made a better one start.
You’ve taught me everything from falling in love to letting go of our lives.
Yes, you’ve made me stronger by saying goodbye.

Yay to girl power!

You didn’t sing Love Is All That Matters? Remember when this became a hit (again) during the return of the oldies period in the late 90s? Everyone have gone crazy with this song. I guess several weddings had this as part of the list of wedding songs.

Ric Segreto was one of the best singers this country has ever produced. Who would forget his song You? So many local singers have covered this song. I am one of his fans. It was a sad day for the local music scene when he died.

***

Michael Learns to Rock recently held a concert here in Manila. I just remembered that I was once so crazy about 25 Minutes Too Late, their song that made it to number in almost all radio stations here back in the 90s.

Boy, I miss your kisses
All the time but this is 25 minutes too late
Though you tried but so far
Boy, I’m sorry you are 25 minutes too late.

Sigh.

Those were the times…
